The Arbaeen Hosseini pilgrimage is one of the largest contemporary collective rituals, possessing significant communicative, cultural, and educational capacities. Beyond being a religious ceremony, Arbaeen can be analyzed as a ritual audio-visual medium through which meaning, identity, and values are reproduced within a shared experiential space. The purpose of this study is to conceptualize the Arbaeen pilgrimage as a ritual medium and to identify the educational value system and educational effects inherent in it.This research adopts a qualitative interpretive approach and employs thematic analysis as its primary method. Data collection was conducted through documentary analysis, and sampling was carried out purposively until theoretical saturation was achieved. Data analysis followed the six-step framework proposed by Braun and Clarke.Findings indicate that the educational values of Arbaeen can be categorized into three main layers: emotional, moral, and social. At the emotional level, participation in Arbaeen contributes to the reconstruction of believers’ emotional identity by fostering dignity, empathy, and psychological calmness. At the moral level, virtues such as altruism, patience, and selfless service are internalized through collective action and lived ritual practices. At the social level, Arbaeen strengthens religious social capital and social cohesion by creating a sense of communitas among participants. The study concludes that the Arbaeen pilgrimage functions as an active ritual medium that plays a significant role in emotional, moral, and social education, offering a valuable framework for media and educational studies.
